The veneer is made in a lab from composite or porcelain, using imprints or 3D imaging for perfect measurements. Dentists remove portion of the tooth enamel before cementing the veneer into place. This makes the operation more intrusive than dental bonding. However, because veneers may give a tooth the right size, shape, and color, they are a popular choice for concealing imperfections such as chips, fissures, and permanent stains.
